Jools is one of the founding volunteer board directors of Sense Inclusion and is our Certified Play and Creative Arts Therapist. She has over 20 years professional experience of working with children, young people and their families and has a special interest in neurodivergence, attachment and developmental trauma. Before training to support the emotional needs of children and their families, her career began in early childhood education where she had a particular interest in child development and SEN, achieving a BA Hons in Early Childhood Studies with a first.
As Jools' career progressed, she trained in emotion coaching, achieved a PGDip in Play and Creative Arts Therapy and gained a Level 2 in Dyadic Developmental Psychotherapy. Jools has now begun her training in Sensory Attachment Intervention.
She is also a certified beach school practitioner, certified sensory fitness coach, therapy dog handler, has specialist training in Developmental Trauma and is a mental health first aider.
Through combining her varied training and experience, Jools is able to take a holistic view of a child or young person and tailor therapeutic support to meet their individual needs.
Jools is a registered member of PTUK (Play Therapy UK) who are accredited by the PSA (Professional Standards Authority). She receives regular robust clinical supervision and can be found on the play therapy register at http://playtherapyregister.org.uk
Alongside her professional experience, she also has personal experience of children and young people with complex and challenging needs, meaning she is able to support families with deep empathy and understanding.
