Caroline is our Alternative Provision Lead with many years’ experience working in alternative education and emotional support. Caroline started her career working in local primary schools, including Thompson House pupil referral unit where she led the nurture group and supported the children’s academic outcomes and emotional wellbeing.
Caroline has a Foundation Degree in learning support, later qualifying as an Emotional Literacy Support Assistant (ELSA) and HLTA. More recently she has trained in children and young people’s mental health first aid and developmental trauma.
Caroline is an attachment and trauma informed practitioner, experienced in supporting children whose needs cannot be met in traditional school environments. She is experienced in supporting looked after children, children who have been excluded from mainstream education and children with complex learning and SEMH needs.
Caroline joined us in September 2022 and has been instrumental in developing our alternative provision, she currently leads our small social group provision, as well as supporting children on a 1-1 or 2-1 basis to meet the outcomes identified in their EHCP.
Caroline can tailor her support to meet individual need, using a child-led, individual approach, she can ensure children and young people are learning and developing at a pace, and in ways they can make progress and thrive.
Caroline is a dedicated and very experienced member of our team. She is able to think outside the box, adapting and tailoring sessions where needed to ensure the children we support feel happy, engaged, supported and safe in their sessions.
